Woman stabbed boyfriend trying to save his guitar from being smashed, police say

WALNUTPORT, Pa. -

A woman stabbed her boyfriend in the arm and stomach as he was trying to save a guitar she had threatened to smash, officials said.

Jane D. Kiefer stabbed Jason Loch when Loch tried to take away a guitar she was going to smash while they were arguing in their home at 647 Washington St., Walnutport, Northampton Co., just before 2 p.m. Sunday, officials said.

Kiefer pulled a silver knife with a five-inch blade and stabbed Loch first in the stomach and again in his left arm, which he had raised to defend himself, officials said.

Neither of Loch's wounds was life threatening, officials added.

Kiefer was found at at New and Washington streets a short time later and began yelling, "I don't care what happens to me" as well as obscenities, officials noted.

Kiefer, 51, was arraigned on charges of simple and aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and reckless endangerment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $40,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 12.
