Woman injured in Berks County fire

A woman is in the hospital after a fire burned through her apartment and two businesses in Berks County.

MOUNT PENN, Pa. -

A woman was taken to the hospital after a fire damaged her apartment and two businesses in Berks County.

The fire broke out at around 11:20 a.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of Perkiomen Avenue in Mount Penn.

Police say the fire also damaged Changes Hair Studio and Midstate Tax and Financial Services, which are in the same building.

Authorities are trying to figure out what sparked the fire.

But, they did tell 69 News that it may have started in the area of the hair studio.

There's no word on the woman's condition.
