Woman finds man in car with drugs, stolen items, police say
A Walmart employee in Carbon County got an unexpected and unwelcome surprise when she got to her car in the parking lot.
Mahoning Twp. police said the woman found a man she didn't know asleep in her car.
The car was parking in the lot at 731 Blakeslee Blvd Dr East.
Police said they had to try several times to awaken 26-year-old Kyle Scherer of Palmerton.
Scherer told police he was waiting for his friend, and said he was in his friend's car.
He was slurring his words and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.
While arresting Scherer, police found a round item containing a white powdery substance which Scherer said was crystal meth.
In addition, several items that were determined to be stolen from Walmart, were also found in the car with Scherer, police said.
The items were valued at $243.
Scherer was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and retail theft.
He was sent to the Carbon County Prison after being unable to post $10,000 bail.
