Wilson WL, Spring-Ford girls preparing for 2nd round games

Published On: Mar 10 2014 05:14:55 PM CDT

The Bulldogs and Rams are on the verge of meeting each other in state quarterfinals at the 4A level.

The Wilson and Spring-Ford girls basketball teams won their state tournament openers over the weekend. The Bulldogs and Rams are on a collision course to meet in the quarterfinals, so long as they take care of business Tuesday night in their second round games.

Wilson advanced following a one-point thriller over Methacton. The Bulldogs get another District I team Tuesday evening when they take on Abington.

Doug Myer's squad is entering this game with confidence following its tight win in the first round.

A gritty performance like that, especially in the final minutes, is an experience that will only benefit Wilson throughout the tournament.

Their game is scheduled for 7:30 at Coatesville.

That's a 7:30 tip at Coatesville.

As for Spring-Ford, the lady Rams handled Red Lion in their opener. Next up, Mechanicsburg, the 6th seed out of District 3.

The defending state champs had a strong group of seniors lead them to the promised land last year.

This time through the big dance, it's a younger team, and a newer crop of leaders, that's been tasked to defend the crown.

That game is slated for a 7:30 tip at Garden Spot.
