Police in Northampton County say a domestic incident took a disturbing turn.

PALMER TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

A Palmer Township man is in Northampton County Prison after being arrested for  dousing gasoline on his wife's three pet ferrets and setting them on fire.

Sixty-three-year-old William Dickerson has been charged with arson, terroristic threats, and criminal mischief. Dickerson is being held in the prison in lieu of posting the required 10 percent of $10,000 bail.

At 6:50 p.m. Aug. 5, Palmer Township police responded to a domestic disturbance call at 920 Tatamy Road. When they arrived, one officer noticed something smoldering, which turned out to be the ferrets. Police learned he had doused the ferrets belonging to his wife with gasoline and lit them.

The injured ferrets were taken to a vet. Police report one of the three is in very poor condition and that the other two are given a 50-50 chance of survival.
