Pilot of small plane dies in Hunterdon Co., N.J., crash

Pilot dies in small plane crash


Officials have confirmed that the lone occupant of a small plane which went down in Hunterdon County Wednesday night is dead.

The plane was found just off of Route 627 in Holland Township, Hunterdon County around 8 p.m.

Officials have not released the name of the male pilot, pending notification of family members.


The Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony Kearns III and Holland Twp. Police Chief John Harris said Thursday morning that a preliminary investigation is underway.

There is no word on where the plane was coming from nor where it was headed.

Police confirmed they started looking for the plane around 6 p.m. Wednesday and finally found it about two hours later along the Delaware River off Route 627.

Police said the Federal Aviation Administration will be at the crash site Thursday morning to investigate.
