Plane goes down after takeoff in Blairstown

Two men escaped serious injury when the small plane they were in crashed on a street near an airport in northwestern New Jersey.

The fixed-wing, single-engine Piper plane went down shortly before 11:30 a.m. Friday, just minutes after it took off from the Blairstown Airport, authorities said.

The plane ended up on Gwinnup Road in the Warren County community of Blairstown Township, across a long field from the airport.

The two men in the plane suffered minor injuries, but further details were not disclosed.

The crash remains under investigation. No one on the ground was injured in the incident.

Federal Aviation Administration records show the plane is registered to a Pennsylvania firm, but it was not clear Friday afternoon if the two men had any connection to the firm.
