Man accused in fatal gas station shooting faces assault charges

Officials say a man who is behind bars for murder is now facing aggravated assault charges for attacking an officer.


A man in jail for robbing a gas station is facing additional charges of assaulting a corrections officer.

Officials said Zachary Flowers, 20, attacked a female corrections officer Sunday by punching her from behind, and hit her several times in the face, head and body. He is also accused of putting her in a choke hold, and slamming her head and body into a computer desk.

The officer was treated and released.


The incident took place around 1 p.m. Sunday at the Warren County Corrections Center at 175 County Road 159 in White Twp.

Flowers was charged with aggravated assault. His bail was set at $50,000. There's no word on if he posted bail.

Flowers was one of four people who faced first degree murder and weapon charges for the January 5, 2012. gas station robbery and shooting death of Kismathdas Kasam at a BP gas station on S. Main Street in Phillipsburg, Warren County, N.J.
