Rain prompts postponements, cancellations

In Reading, the Fightin Phils game against Harrisburg at FirstEnergy Stadium has been rained-out. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader starting at 5:35 p.m. Saturday. Pitcher Carlos Zambrano, who was scheduled to start Friday's game, will take the mound for Game 2 on Saturday.

In Bethlehem, the "Pop Up Wellness Expo"planned at 3rd and New streets from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday has been postponed. It will be rescheduled.

Also in Bethlehem, the Los Straightjackets concert scheduled for Friday evening at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks has been canceled. The show will not be rescheduled, but fans of the band can enjoy the group when it returns to Bethlehem Aug. 10 at 9 p.m., at Pennsylvania Lottery Volksplatz as part of Musikfest 2013.

In Allentown, Jordan United Church of Christ has canceled the first night of the annual Summer Festival, which was scheduled for Friday evening. The festival will still be held on Sat., June 8 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and on Sun., June 9, the picnic pavilion will be open from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for food sales.

The Lehigh Valley Storm versus New England Soul minor league football game scheduled for Sat., June 8 at 7 p.m. has been canceled.  The Storm (now 2-1) will be credited with a forfeit victory.

The rain has also forced officials to postpone opening night at the Valley Performed Cycling Center (the Velodrome). That's been pushed to Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
