Two people were hurt in Schuylkill County when their car went airborne for 40 feet after hitting an embankment off Route 61 in Blythe Township.

It happened around 9:20 a.m. Saturday. Police said a car failed to negotiate a sharp right curve and ran off the west berm. The car then struck large boulder on an embankment, causing it to go airborne for about 40 feet before crashing into a large tree.

A passenger was flown to the hospital for what police are calling moderate injuries. The driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
