Turkey time at Jaindl Farms
Updated On: Nov 19 2013 11:45:46 AM CST
With just over a week until Thanksgiving, the largest turkey farm in the area is extra busy.
Jaindl Turkey Farms in North Whitehall Twp., Lehigh, Co., says it's producing 800,000 turkeys this year, half of which are just for Thanksgiving!
The farm starts hatching and raising the birds as early as February to get ready for Turkey Day.
Even the president of the U.S. eats a Jaindl turkey!
For the past 50 years we've been asked to supply two turkeys to the president of the United States and we're going to be doing that again this year. Two 30-pound turkeys get shipped down [to Washington] next week," said David Jaindl, owner/operator of Jaindl Turkey Farms.
Starting Tuesday, Jaindl's retail store at 3150 Coffeetown Road will be open every day until Thanksgiving.
The retail store hours are available on the Jaindl website.
Their turkeys are also available at some local grocery stores, including Wegmans.
