Todd Cernak charged with operating meth lab

Todd Cernak of Mahoning Township, who already was incarcerated in Carbon County Prison, has been charged with operating a methamphetamine lab.

On Wednesday, a search warrant for production of methamphetamine was executed at the residence of Cernak and Sarah Meckel in the 200 block of Lower Nis Hollow Drive in Mahoning Township.

Mahoning Township police seized numerous items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Cermak has been charged by the Attorney General’s Drug Task Force with the following felonies: manufacture of a controlled substance; criminal conspiracy-manufacture of a controlled substance; operating a methamphetamine laboratory and illegal dumping of methamphetamine waste; criminal conspiracy- operating a methamphetamine laboratory and illegal dumping of methamphetamine waste; liquified ammonia gas-precursors and chemicals, and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.

At the time of the warrant,Cermak was in Carbon County Prison for a misdemeanor charge of terroristic threats, the result of an incident at the residence on April 18.

Bail on the new charges was set at $50,000. Cernak remains in prison.
