BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man is claiming he "accidentally" stepped on his girlfriend's face and neck when an argument over money turned physical.

Officials said Todd A. Laudenbach attacked his girlfriend after taking a cell phone from her while she was in a crouching position in the washing room area of her home in the 700 block of Hamilton Street in Bethlehem at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

The woman told police the assault happened after she and Laudenbach had been arguing about money, and that Laudenbach cut her right index and ring finger when he grabbed the phone from her.

Laudenbach told police his girlfriend kicked him as he was trying to leave and that he "accidentally" stepped on her face.

Luadenbach, 39, of 1325 Bushkill Center Road, Bushkill Township, Northampton County, was arraigned on charges of assault and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $15,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 6.
