LOWER SAUCON TWP., Pa. -

A teenager who had been drinking fought with his girlfriend when she took a switchblade away from him, officials said.

Thomas W. Denton-Borhaug pushed his girlfriend to the ground when she took away the knife after he had been threatening to kill himself at her home in the 1600 block of Cambridge Street, Lower Saucon Township, Northampton Co., around 4 p.m. Monday, officials said.

When police arrived, Denton-Borhaug was sitting on a front porch and threw the knife to the ground, officials said.

While speaking with Denton-Borhaug, police detected alcohol on his breath, and a field test showed Denton-Borhaug had a blood alcohol content of .02, they added.

Denton-Borhaug, 18, of 5554 Nina Circle, Coopersburg, Lehigh Co., was arraigned on charges of assault and illegally possessing alcohol and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $3,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Dec. 3.
