“With this renown accreditation, St. Luke’s Physical Therapy has the ability to attract some of the best and brightest physical therapists in the country,” said Stephen Kareha, PT, DPT, OCS, and Director of Physical Therapy Residency Education at St. Luke’s Physical Therapy. “It’s an exciting opportunity for our physical therapists to expand their clinical skills while providing the highest level of evidence-based, patient-centered care.”
The residency program at St. Luke's prepares physical therapists to sit for the American Board Certification in Orthopaedics exam through a combination of classes, labs, clinical mentorship, interdisciplinary collaboration experience and extensive clinical experience. These experiences are designed to give physical therapists a higher-level understanding in the treatment of post-operative joints, sports injuries, arthritis and amputations, among other injuries and conditions.
The hospital network currently has nine board-certified Orthopaedics. The residency program plans to accept one to three residents per year. St. Luke’s Physical Therapy Residency Program hopes to become the preeminent choice for post-professional orthopaedic physical therapy education while providing superior patient care.
