READING, Pa. -

It is the holiday season, and while you may be wrapping gifts for family or friends, there is a group of children in Reading that would be appreciative of your help as well.

"We would like to bless The Children's Home of Reading as best we can, and being that there is only eight or 10 of us, we are doing the best that we can," said Lori Dollinger, a member of Glad Tidings Women's Bible Study.

Dollinger is part of the women's bible study at Glad Tidings Church in Sinking Spring. Members decided to start a toy drive for kids at The Children's Home of Reading.

"There are a lot of kids that are not going to wake up and have Christmas like my kids are going to, and so we would like them to know that people are thinking of them, too," said Dollinger.

The home provides several services for more than 450 children, including housing and schooling for kids with mental illness.

"Every parent wants to be able to provide toys or something for their kids for Christmas, and there are a lot of families out there that we serve that cannot do any of that, so we are trying to just make their season brighter," said Vanessa Wanshop, The Children's Home of Reading major gifts manager .

Children at the home could use anything from shampoo and deodorant to toys, board games, clothing and electronics. If you would like to donate, drop off a gift at The Children's Home of Reading on Centre Avenue weekdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
