Teen killed in Monroe County car accident Sunday

Fifteen-year-old Justin Curry was killed in a head-on collision during very foggy conditions on Route 196 in Monroe County late Sunday night.
The teen was a passenger in the rear seat of a 2001 Chevrolet Impala that was going south on Route 196 toward Echo Lake Road at 11:07 p.m. when it crossed into the northbound side of the road, striking an SUV head-on.
Curry was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:16 a.m. Monday by Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen.
The boy resided in the Pocono Country Place neighborhood in Coolbaugh Township.
The coroner reported the weather was very rainy and foggy at the time of the accident. He said it has not yet been determined why the car crossed the highway.
The Impala was driven by 26-year-old Richard Washington. The driver of the SUV was identified as 46-year-old Laura Wade of Tobyhanna.
The victim's two brothers, ages four and 18, and another unrelated adult identified only as Brian, also were in the car. No one in the car was wearing seat belts, according to the coroner, who indicated all were taken to the hospital but are expected to survive.
No word yet regarding whether Wade also went to the hospital.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police are investigating the accident.
Allen has not yet ruled on the cause of death. He waiting until the autopsy and accident reports are completed.
