SWAT team responds to standoff in Montgomery Co.

Investigators say a standoff that lasted several hours in Montgomery County was prompted by a suicide.

EAST GREENVILLE, Pa. -

A SWAT team was at the scene of a standoff in Montgomery County for several hours Sunday, and more information has been released about the incident.

A man found dead at the scene was identified as 59-year-old Earl Supplee, said the Montgomery County coroner, Dr. Walter Hoffman.

Hoffman said Supplee died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head during an incident in the 200 block of Washington Street in East Greenville during the day Sunday.

Crews said the standoff lasted about six hours.

Hoffman said SWAT teams responded after the bullet Supplee shot himself went continued through the window of his home and through the wall of a neighbor's home.

The standoff ended around 4 p.m.
