Storm knocks out power to thousands in southeastern Pennsylvania

More than 620,000 PECO customers are without power after Wednesday's snow and ice storm.
PECO said hard-hit areas include Chester, Montgomery, and Bucks counties.
In Bucks County alone, more than 140,000 customers were without power Wednesday. According to the company website, that includes more than 60 percent of customers in the county.
A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and ice proved to be too much for areas of Doylestown.
"About 4 o'clock in the morning, I heard this huge noise. I said 'oh boy, I hope that's not a big limb coming down.' Unfortunately, it was," said Michael Carter, of Doylestown.
The live wires dangled across and over Court Street, across from Central Bucks West High School.
Carter and his family lost power for only an instant. But his next-door neighbors weren't so lucky.
"As soon as that came down, the power went out. I said, 'okay, we'll be probably out for a few days," said Odette Rossi, of Doylestown.
PECO said some customers may have to wait several days before power is restored. The company is looking at the weekend as a worst-case scenario for some customers.
PECO is still sorting through all of the outages and has not given any definitive restoration dates or times.
It's unclear how much financial damage was caused by the storm.
PECO asks people to avoid going near down power lines or tree branches as they may be carrying a dangerous electric current.
PECO customers experiencing an interruption in power should call 1-800-4141 immediately.
You can also report outages at peco.com.
If you are without power, the Red Cross has set up warming centers in Chester, Bucks and Delaware counties.
