LAPATCONG TOWNSHIP, N.J. -

When an intoxicated Jose Andres Morales of Washington, N.J., was stopped by police early Wednesday morning, he urinated on one of his car's tires.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday morning, Lopatcong Township police stopped a vehicle on Route 22 at Key City Diner.

They had observed the car swerving out of its lane several times while traveling west on Route 57 near Route 22.

While talking to 26-year-old Morales, police noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from his vehicle.

He was asked to get out of the car to confirm his identity and take a field sobriety test. Police report Morales was physically unable to perform that test "in a safe manner." Then he relieved himself on the left rear tire of his car.

He was transported to police headquarters and issued criminal summons for lewdness and disorderly conduct. He also was charged with failing to stay in his lane, driving under the influence, refusal, reckless driving and being an unlicensed driver.

Morales, who lives in the 200 block of W. Washington St. in Washington,  was released pending an appearance in the township's municipal court.
