State police have charged a suspect after a man was stabbed in Northampton County early Friday, officials said.
Police arrested Andrew Robert Hess, 24, of Birch Street in Nazareth, and charged him with one count of criminal homicide.
The stabbing happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday when emergency crews were called to 340 S. Hokendauqua Drive in Moore Township for a homicide.
State police said the victim was 36-year-old Richard Parker of the 400 block of High Street in Nazareth.
A source close to Parker told 69 News that he was longtime friends with Hess.
People living around there say they thought police were on scene because there has been a lot of traffic at the property lately.
"Constant traffic, constant cars, in and out all during the day and all during they night," added Tara Frey.
But no one we talked to heard anything around 1:30 this Friday morning.
Moore Township police were the first to respond to the disturbance call.
"They found an unresponsive male with inflicted stab wounds about his abdomen," said lieutenant Joseph Sokolofski, from the Pennsylvania State Police.
Moore Township police turned the investigation over to state police in Bethlehem.
Northampton County Coroner Zach Lysek said Parker died of stab wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
"There were two persons of interest at the scene, a male and a female, and we are actively pursuing their involvement with the investigation at this point," added Sokolofski.
"Personally I just think it's drug related with the murder," said Randy Frey.
But state police say drugs don't appear to be a factor at this point.
Parker was a tenant at the Hokendauqua address and had rented from property owner Abe Atiyeh.
Atiyeh told 69 News that Parker had been a tenant of his for several years.
Parker stored used farm equipment there, where he refurbished the implements and resold them, Atiyeh said.
Atiyeh said he was notified at 6 a.m. Friday that there had been a homicide on his property.
Investigators are still waiting for a search warrant so they can go into a building on the property.
