Wilson sweeps Mifflin in field hockey and girls soccer

Wilson West Lawn defeated Governor Mifflin in a pair of pivotal games on the field hockey and soccer fields.


Wilson West Lawn defeated rival Governor Mifflin in both field hockey and girls soccer on Wednesday. The win gave the Bulldogs sole possession of Berks I in both sports.

In Shillington, the Wilson field hockey team tallied a 2-0 win over the Mustangs. Margaret Lillis and Avery Marz scored the goals for the Bulldogs, both coming early in the first half.

Azure Fernsler had six saves for Wilson (4-0, 5-4).


The Bulldogs host Perkiomen Valley on Saturday morning. Governor Mifflin (3-1, 5-3) visits Muhlenberg on Monday.


In Spring Township, the Wilson girls soccer team edged Governor Mifflin, 2-1. Shannon O'Brien scored Wilson's goal in the first half. Sienna Zittle responded with the equalizer for the Mustangs.

But with ten minutes left in the second half, Carly Pandit scored a header off a cross from Rachel Hafer to give the Bulldogs the victory.

Wilson (4-0, 7-0) hosts Emmaus on Saturday evening. Governor Mifflin (3-1, 6-3) welcomes Whitehall to town Saturday.
