Saints, Spartans grab Berks division leads
The Berks Catholic and Wyomissing boys basketball teams took over sole possession of first place within their divisions of Berks County on Tuesday.
In Robesonia, Conrad Weiser (4-1, 8-5) could not hold onto a first half lead as Berks Catholic (5-0, 10-3) roared back for a 46-35 victory in a meeting of Berks II leaders.
The Saints' Nana Foulland dominated, scoring a game-high 26 points. BC outscored Weiser 25-13 in the second half.
Dexter Jordan paced the Scouts with 9 points. Andy Orr, one of the county's top scorers, was limited to just 8.
Berks Catholic hosts Daniel Boone on Wednesday. Conrad Weiser visits Elco on Thursday.
At Wyomissing, the host Spartans (5-0, 7-5) prevailed in overtime, 60-53, over Tulpehocken (4-1, 11-3) to take over the top spot in Berks III.
Wyo's Chase Hartman hit a deep three-pointer as time expired to send the game into the extra period. Hartman, along with Jarvay Bolton, took over in OT to help the Spartans pull away for the victory.
Hartman tallied 22 points and 13 rebounds. Bolton poured in 17 points of his own.
Joey Olkusz paced the Trojans with 22 points. Robert Ekvall added another 12 for Tulpy.
Wyomissing visits Muhlenberg on Wednesday. Tulpehocken will play at Antietam Friday.
