The Reading High and Tulpehocken baseball teams are off to positive starts within their divisions of Berks County. Both the Red Knights and Trojans think they there is still room for improvement though.
Reading High has asserted itself as one of the top baseball teams in Berks I and, perhaps, all of Berks County.
The Red Knights knew they had the talent to compete with the best before the season even started.
So far, they've proven it with wins over Berks Catholic, Exeter and Wilson.
Behind strong pitching and a consistent offense, Reading is off to an 8-2 start heading into Wednesday's meeting at Wilson.
The Red Knights think that if the defense shores up, they'll be a force to reckon with down the second half of the season.
In Berks III, Tulpehocken is in the middle of a tight race near the top of the division.
The Trojans are a solid 3-2 in league play and are hovering around the .500 mark overall heading into their game with Antietam on Wednesday.
Tulpy knows that it has to get better in close games as it comes down the stretch, especially offensively. Of the Trojans five losses, four have been by one run.
