Reading boys, Oley Valley girls can't earn state berths
The Reading boys and Oley Valley girls basketball teams could not get into the state tournament on Thursday, falling in their District 3 finales. However, the Berks Catholic boys improved their state seed with a victory.
At Garden Spot, the Red Knights could not get anything going in a 75-58 loss to Carlisle in the District 3-AAAA seventh place game.
The Red Knights finish the season with an overall record of 18-10.
Also at Garden Spot, the Berks Catholic boys prevailed in overtime against West York, 59-54, in the District 3-AAA fifth place game.
The Saints' Nana Foulland led all scorers with 20 points. Connor Jack added a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds. Isaac Lutz poured in another 14 points for B.C.
The Saints will face the District 12 champion in the first round of the state tournament.
At Warwick High School, the Oley Valley girls could not hold a second half lead and lost to Camp Hill, 62-59, in the District 3-AA third-place game.
The Lynx wrap up the season with an 18-9 overall record, including a 10-0 mark in Berks III play.
