The Pennsylvania Roar, Reading's new professional indoor soccer team, was introduced to the city and members of the media at the Sovereign Center on Tuesday.
The Roar will play in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), the premiere league for indoor soccer worldwide. The league is in affiliation with the United Soccer Leagues and the Premier Development League, the same organization that the Reading United belong to.
The Sovereign Center will host all of the team's home games. The Roar are expected to begin play in the Fall, in conjunction with the Reading Royals. But the Sovereign Center, and the Royals, are excited to have a new team that can call the Sovereign Center home.
Present at Tuesday's ceremony was team owner and CEO Glen Goldstein as well as many prominent members of the greater Reading area. All spoke with excitement over the prospect of the Roar due to soccer's rising popularity in the United States and its strong footing in Berks County.
