NCAA RUNDOWN: Kutztown wins PSAC Championship

The Kutztown baseball team capped off their Cinderella run with a surprising PSAC Championship on Saturday.

The Golden Bears beat Millersville 1-0 to claim the crown.

Kutztown, the last team into the PSAC Tournament, upset top-seeded Seton Hill on Thursday and knocked off Pitt-Johnstown in the semifinal round on Friday.


The Alvernia baseball team lost in the Commonwealth Conference final, falling 3-2 to Widener in the title game.

The Muhlenberg baseball team was eliminated after a pair of losses in the Centennial Conference Tournament.  The Mules lost to Gettysburg 2-1, then fell 8-6 to Haverford.

The Moravian baseball team, the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament, suffered a 5-2 upset loss at home to Merchant Marine Academy.  The Greyhounds will play an elimination game on Sunday at 9am at Gillespie Field.

The DeSales baseball team edged FDU-Florham 5-4 in 11 innings in an elimination game in the MAC Freedom Conference playoffs.   But the Bulldogs were eliminated Saturday night in an 8-1 loss to Misericordia.

The Alvernia softball team advanced to the Commonwealth Conference title game with a pair of wins on Saturday.  The Crusaders beat Arcadia 2-1, then knocked off top-seeded Messiah, 6-5.  Alvernia will host Lebanon Valley for the title on Sunday at noon.  The Crusaders will need to win twice in a row to claim the crown.

The Moravian softball team beat Elizabethtown 8-0, but then saw its season come to an end with an 8-0 loss to Susquehanna in the Landmark Conference Tournament.

The Muhlenberg softball team, the top seed in the Centennial Conference playoffs, edged Washington College 2-1 in its first-round playoff game, but then lost 8-5 to Haverford in its second game.  The Mules will play an elimination game against McDaniel on Sunday at 10am at Lehigh County Fields.

The Penn State-Berks softball team advanced to round two of the NEAC Tournament thanks to a 3-0 first-round win over Wilson College.

The DeSales men's lacrosse team lost to Eastern College 12-5 in the MAC Freedom Conference Championship game.

The Albright men's lacrosse team lost 11-10 to defending national champion Stevenson in the MAC Commonwealth Championship game.
