Kansas freshman 7-footer Joel Embiid, considered one of the surprise newcomers of the college basketball season, will consider returning to school next season.

The Cameroon native told ESPN that he will weigh his options after the season as he assesses his development. NBA Draft experts consider Embiid, who has played organized basketball only three years, a top-three pick -- and possibly No. 1 -- if he decides to leave.

"I'm not even thinking about it right now," Embiid said after the Jayhawks' 69-52 victory over Baylor on Tuesday night. "I'll make a decision after the season, but I'm definitely considering coming back to school."

Embiid, who told ESPN that he thought about redshirting before this season, was averaging 11.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks going into Tuesday night's game in which he had five points and seven rebounds while making 1 of 6 shots from the field.

"He's a bright young man and he's going to weigh his options," Kansas coach Bill Self said, according to ESPN. "He's considering coming back and he's obviously also considering leaving. He can't make a bad decision."
