Hamburg, Wilson WL wrestlers advance at states

The Hamburg and Wilson wrestling teams won preliminary duals on Tuesday to advance in their PIAA tournaments.

The Hamburg and Wilson West Lawn wrestling teams advanced in their respective PIAA brackets on Tuesday following preliminary round wins.

In Hamburg, Nick Oswald tallied a fall in the final bout of the match to lift the Hawks to the 34-33 victory over West Branch. Chris Kummerer got Hamburg within striking distance in the bout before with a tech fall.

Hamburg advances in the AA bracket to face Burrell on Thursday at 2:00 at the Giant Center.

Almost at the same time, Wilson's Jake Yancey picked up a major decision in the Bulldogs' final bout with Council Rock South to give them a 30-26 victory on the road.

The county champs advance to meet Franklin Regional in the AAA bracket on Thursday at 8:00 in the Giant Center.

Exeter's season came to an end with a 39-19 loss at Spring-Ford Tuesday night as well.
