R-Phils beat Portland, clinch playoff berth

The Reading Phillies are headed back to the playoffs.

The R-Phils closed out their regular season schedule with a 7-3 win at Portland Monday, clinching the Eastern League's East Division Wildcard berth in the process.

The R-Phils (76-66) will face the division-winning Trenton Thunder in a best-of-five first round playoff series.

Game times for both games are 7:05pm at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Games three, four, and five are will be played Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Trenton's Waterfront Park.

This marks Reading's second straight Eastern League playoff appearance.

Last year, the R-Phils lost to New Hampshire in the opening round.

Jake Fox had two hits, including his second home run in as many days, to pace the R-Phils offense on Monday.

Adam Morgan (4-1, 3.53) got the win on the mound for Reading.
