The Kutztown men came into this season with somewhat lowered expectations. Picked fourth in their conference, they have a roster that's mixed with some very good returning players and some very fresh faces. That group has struggled a bit out of the gate but partly because they've been on the road every night of the season so far. Tuesday night they played their home opener against Holy Family.
The Golden Bears outplayed the Tigers in the first half, going into halftime with a 37-31 lead. But Holy Family really turned it up in the second half.
The Tigers went on a 27-9 run to open the second half. Holy Family led by as much as 18 points with six minutes to go in the game.
Alberto Munoz led Holy Family with a game high 24 points. Ervin Ezell added 23.
For the Golden Bears, Micah Fraction dropped 21 points with Ryan Connolly pitching in 15.
The loss drops KU to 1-4 on the season. The team will look to get back on track Saturday in Erie when it takes on Gannon in the PSAC opener.
