Berks Catholic girls cruise past Conrad Weiser for Berks II title

After a slow start, the Saints found their rhythm in the final three quarters to pull away from Weiser and capture the Berks II crown.

READING, Pa. -

The Berks Catholic girls overcame a slow start to pull away from Conrad Weiser for a 65-36 victory on Tuesday night in Wolf Gymnasium. The win seals the Berks II title for the Saints.

Berks Catholic led just 4-2 after the first quarter, but went on to outscore the Scouts by 27 over the final three quarters to run away with the game.

BC's Katrina Balatgek led all scorers with 18 points. Devon Merritt added 12 for the Saints.

Rachel Zerbe paced Weiser with 14 points. Hannah Racis was held to just 3 points.

Berks Catholic (9-1, 17-5) will be the 2-seed in the county tournament starting Saturday. Conrad Weiser's (7-3, 16-5) seed and opponent has yet to be determined.
