Pottsgrove School Board approves $28 million project

The Pottsgrove School Board has agreed to move forward with a $28 million plan to renovate and upgrade Pottsgrove High School.

District Business Administrator Dave Nester said the $28 million project --approved by the board Monday night --  will begin around June 16, when students leave for summer vacation.

Officials anticipate the improvements will be completed in August 2016.

Nester said the high school was constructed in 1956. Beside one partial renovation in 1993, there have been no upgrades to the school. Many fixtures at the school are outdated, according to Nester.

The renovations include updated labs for math and science classes, a new gymnasium, new cafeteria, and a vestibule for improved security.

Nester said the district is "very happy with the support the community has shown for the project," and he hopes the high school will be a "premiere learning space for years to come".
