Water advisory issued for parts of Montgomery County

Customers in several Montgomery County communities are being asked to curtail water usage.

Pennsylvania American Water officials issued a mandatory conservation notice Tuesday for all of its Norristown area customers.

Treatment issues have limited the production capacity of its Norristown water treatment plant.

According to water officials, recent heavy rains created high cloudiness levels in the raw water supply and affected the plant's capacity to meet typical customer demand.

There's no estimate when the issues will be resolved and the plant returns to normal capacity.

The notice affects around 31,000 customers in the following communities:

• Norristown
• Bridgeport
• East Norriton Township
• West Norriton Township
• Upper Merion Township
• Lower Providence Township
• Plymouth Township
• Whitpain Township
• Worcester Township
• Perkiomen Township

There are no health-related concerns with the water; however customers might experience low water pressure and/or discolored water.

Customers will be notified when the mandatory conservation notice is lifted, and updates will be provided on the Pennsylvania American Water website.
