Man killed by SEPTA train

ABINGTON TWP., Pa. -

A man was struck by a SEPTA train and killed during Monday afternoon's rush hour in Montgomery County, authorities said.

The 20-year-old man was texting when he was hit and killed in Abington Township around 5 p.m., police said.

The train engineer saw the man on the tracks and repeatedly blew the caution horn, but the victim never turned around, police said.

The man was struck on the tracks between the Jenkintown-Wyncote train station in Jenkintown and the Noble station in Abington, officials said.

The man, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.

The West Trenton Regional Rail line was suspended due to the accident.
