A Bucks County man will spend 10 to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to third degree murder in a wrong-way interstate crash that killed a Philadelphia police officer last year.
John Leck Jr. was sentenced Monday after telling a judge, "I'm not the monster I'm made out to be."
Leck, 48, of Levittown, was driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia when he hit 48-year-old Brian Lorenzo, a 23-year veteran highway patrol officer riding his motorcycle home from his shift. He was married with three children.
Authorities said Leck's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit for driving after he spent four hours drinking at a restaurant/lounge and he ignored "do not enter" signs and drove on I-95 for a half-mile before crashing into Lorenzo's motorcycle in July 2012.
