Two new guards will help sniff out trouble at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown.
"Bear," 14-months-old, and "Reece," 16-months-old, are a German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix that have been paired with deputies Kelly Holbert and Trevor Keller.
"We have been spending the past two weeks just bonding with the dogs, which is required before going into a six-week training program that starts on Oct. 21," Keller said. "They’re doing a lot of sniffing around and getting used to their surroundings, too."
The dogs will undergo their training at Castle K-9 in Carlisle before being used to detect drugs and patrol the courthouse, where they will be stationed at the Main and Swede streets entrance.
