Former Philadelphia Phillies catcher Darren Daulton has been diagnosed with glioblastoma (GBM), a form of brain cancer, according to a statement released Wednesday by Tony Perri, president, The Darren Daulton Foundation.

Daulton, who underwent surgery in Philadelphia last week to have two tumors removed from his brain, has returned to his home near Clearwater, Fla., to continue recuperating, said Perri, who added that Daulton will eventually begin treatments in Florida.

Perri said that Daulton and his family wish to thank everyone for their loving support, quoting the former Phillies as saying, "Right on; Fight on."

Daulton played for the 1983 Reading Phillies and spent 14 of his 15 major league seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a key part of the Phillies' National League championship team in 1993 before finishing his career with the 1997 World Series champion Florida Marlins.
