DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -

In response to the approaching cold front, Bucks County officials have issued a “Code Blue”  cold weather warning from 6 p.m. Tuesday through 7 a.m. Friday.

The Bucks County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) joins the county Health Department in advising all residents to be aware of the anticipated severe weather conditions.

County residents are urged to check on elderly neighbors during the frigid weather.

Caution also should be taken with pets during the anticipated period of extremely cold temperatures.

The EMA has made arrangements with "on-call" churches to activate their emergency shelters. Those churches will coordinate transportation, temporary shelter, food and other necessities.

Participating are Emmaus Road Lutheran Church in Levittown, Neshaminy Warwick Presbyterian Church in Warminster and West Swamp Mennonite Church in Quakertown.

For shelter information, please call the homeless hotline at 1-800-810-4434. For general cold weather information, please check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website.
