Federal financial assistance has been terminated to Bucks County Head Start, Inc.
The staff at the Head Start program failed to abide by "standards of conduct specifying no child would be left alone or unsupervised while under their care," according to Linda M. Savage, regional program manager at the federal Administration for Children & Families.
She reported that between February 2012 and October 2013, five incidents occurred in which children were left alone and unsupervised.
Savage said the administration at Bucks County Head Start was informed of the deficiency in the operation of its federally-funded program, but failed to correct it.
John Brady, board chairman of Bucks County Head Start, has informed Savage it will not appeal her agency's decision.
Brady wrote that Bucks County Head Start has been a fixture in its community for more than 30 years.
He indicated the Community Development Institute is taking over full operation of its program.
