Police are searching for at least three men wanted in the kidnapping and robbery of a jewelry store owner in the Philadelphia suburbs.
They're also looking into whether there's any connection to a heist at Bixler's jewelry store in South Whitehall Twp., Lehigh Co., in December.
The latest ordeal began around 7 p.m. Thursday when three, possibly four men, armed with handguns, forced their way into the victim's home on Wooded Way in Tredyffrin Twp., Chester Co., police said.
The men bound both the store owner and his wife and ransacked the couple's home, police said.
The victim told police he was then forced to drive the men to his jewelry store in East Norriton Twp., Montgomery Co., Shuler's Jewelers, where he was robbed of an unknown amount of merchandise.
The men fled in the store owner's car before police were called to the scene around 8 p.m., officials said.
Police are asking for the public's help in locating that car, described as a white Volkswagen Passatt sedan with Pennsylvania license plate DJM-0696.
"We will aggressively pursue this case in conjunction with other partner law enforcement agencies to bring these criminals to justice,” said Anthony Giaimo, superintendent, Tredyffrin Twp. Police Dept.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Tredyffrin Twp. Police Dept. at 610-647-1440.
Neither the store owner nor his wife was physically injured during the ordeal, police said.
Police in South Whitehall Twp., Lehigh Co., said they have shared information with Tredyffrin police about a robbery at Bixler's jewelry store in December.
