Police are on the lookout for at least one burglar who apparently likes to add insult to injury.

The thief broke into a home on South Hanover Street in North Coventry Twp., Chester Co., just outside Pottstown, sometime Monday night, police said.

Once inside, the burglar, police said, cut out the copper water lines running along the ceiling.

He or she, however, didn't stop there. The thief then turned on the water, allowing it to flow onto the basement floor, police said.

By the time the break-in was discovered the next morning, the entire basement had filled with more than two feet of water.

The theft of the copper and damage to the home is estimated by police to be at least $10,000.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the North Coventry Twp. Police Dept. at 610-323-8360.
