Longtime Bucks Co. GOP leader Harry W. Fawkes dies at 83

The Bucks County political scene is the mourning the loss of a towering figure.
Harry Fawkes died late Tuesday..
Fawkes ran the Bucks County Republican Committee for 40 years.
He officially retired from the position last year.
He had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease, according to family members.
He helped guide the careers of many GOP politicians including former Governor Mark Schweiker, Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley and Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick.
His wife Mary died in December. He is survived by three children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Harry Fawkes was 83 years old.
A viewing will be held Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, and on Monday from 10 a.m. to noon. Interment will take place at Bristol Cemetery.
