It was standing room only inside a courtroom during a three-hour hearing Friday for a man charged with vehicular homicide.
Robert Sitler, police said, was behind the wheel of a truck that struck Tim Paciello at East High Street and Sunnyside Avenue in Lower Pottsgrove Twp., Montgomery Co., on Nov. 13.
Paciello, a 16-year-old junior at Pottsgrove High School, later died of his injuries.
Paciello's family and many of its supporters turned out for the hearing, in which a judge determined that prosecutors have enough evidence against Sitler for him to stand trial. The Collegeville man was returned to the Montgomery County Prison on $1 million bail.
Denise Dinnocenti, who is charged with insurance fraud and conspiracy in the case, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Friday. Dinnocenti, also of Collegeville, claimed she was driving the truck that hit Paciello because Sitler had a few beers that night, police said.
The couple, police said, convinced two juveniles in the back of their truck to go along with the story.
Dinnocenti remains free on $100,000 unsecured bail.
Stitler, police said, was convicted of vehicular homicide-manslaughter in Alabama in 2004.
