Sen Michael Doherty
TRENTON, N.J. -

State Sen. Michael Doherty, who represents part of Warren and Hunterdon counties,  has been named to a committee investigating the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal that has tarnished the political aspirations of Governor Chris Christie.

Doherty is one of three Republicans named to the Senate Select Committee on Investigation Thursday. The committee also has four Democrats. Christie is a Republican.

Doherty said no schedule for meeting dates has been set yet.

Along with his two Republican colleagues on the committee, Dougherty issued the following statement:

“We thank Senate Republican Leader Kean, Senate President Sweeney and Chairwoman Weinberg for their confidence in us to serve the people on this committee in a rational and bipartisan fashion.

“We encourage members of this committee to engage with us on a judgment-free, apolitical fact-finding mission that fully and equally involves all committee members from both parties.

“This is a great responsibility that we take very seriously. We look forward to diligently carrying out our duties on this committee and putting this issue to rest.”
