A man accused of robbing a convenience store at gunpoint was done in by the unique glasses he was wearing, state police said.

Anthony James Raimo was arrested Monday on charges he robbed the Redner's Quick Shoppe at Pricetown Road and Route 73 in Ruscombmanor Twp., Berks Co., early on the morning of Oct. 10, 2013.

Raimo, police said, was armed with a semi-automatic handgun and wearing clear protective glasses with a black frame and a blue ski mask over his head. He got away with $77 in cash, police said.

Investigators subsequently learned that Raimo was employed by East Penn Manufacturing and was issued the safety glasses at work.

Police also analyzed the surveillance images of the robbery and compared them to pictures taken of Raimo before and after the robbery.

Raimo, 26, of Ontelaunee Township, was charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking, terroristic threats, simple assault and receiving stolen property. He was committed to the Berks County Jail on $500,000 bail.
