SNYDERSVILLE, Pa. -

The Poconos community recently rocked by a mass shooting will build a new township building.

Tuesday night Ross Township Supervisors approved a land swap with Monroe County to gain a new piece of land for a new township building.

Once the land swap is finalized the Township will apply for a grant to fund construction of the building.

Tuesday night Supervisors also authorized an architect to help them figure out just how much money they'll need to apply for in that grant.

There is no word yet on what exactly the new building will look like or when it will be finished.

On August 5th Rockne Newell opened fire on the Ross Township building during the August Supervisors meeting.  Three people were killed and three others were wounded.

69 News talked exclusively with Newell hours after his arrest.  He said the Township had "tormented" through land disputes for the past 23 years.

For the time being, Supervisors approved the hiring of a security company for any event that happens at the current township building.

It is unknown where Township meetings will take place until the new building is built.  Tuesday night's meeting was held at the Monroe County Control Center in Snydersville.  When asked if all future meetings will be held there, 69 News was told "everything under consideration."
