POTTSTOWN, Pa. -

A Montgomery County man has been sentenced to prison after admitting he was driving under the influence of synthetic marijuana when he crashed, killing two of his passengers and injuring a third.

Roger Tracy Malloy was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of a controlled substance in connection with the May 2012 crash in which he lost control and hit a utility pole in Pottstown.

The accident killed Malloy's housemate, James N. Crawford, 28, and Rachel Witt, 15. A third rear-seat passenger suffered head trauma and internal injuries.

Malloy, 28, of Pottstown, apologized to the victims' families. He said it was an accident and he wished it had never happened.
