Richard Bauer Jr. pleads guilty to multiple charges

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Richard Bauer Jr. pleaded guilty in Lehigh County Court Friday to charges involving an early January carjacking that began in Whitehall that ended with a crash in Allentown that injured three people, including a pregnant woman.

Bauer was charged with robbery of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding police, driving under the influence, simple assault, one count of recklessly endangering a police officer and recklessly endangering another person.

Other charges were withdrawn.

Bauer is scheduled for sentencing at 1:30 p.m. June 12.

On the night of Jan. 5, Bauer asked a man for a ride at the Whitehall Mini Mart on Lehigh Street in Whitehall Township.  After pulling a knife on the driver and unsuccessfully trying to get money., he forced the driver out of the vehicle.

When later spotted by police in Allentown, Bauer rammed the Saturn SUV into a cruiser car and then crashed into another vehicle, injuring three people.
