Reading, Weiser, Wilson advance to Berks soccer finals
The BCIAA soccer finals have been set for Thursday. Conrad Weiser will take on Wilson West Lawn in the girls championship game. That will be followed up by a showdown between the Reading and Wilson boys. Both games will be at Tulpehocken.
On Tuesday in the first boys semi-final, the defending champion Bulldogs got things started with a 1-0 win over division-rival Exeter in Shillington. Christian Sload scored the game-winner for Wilson with less than 10 minutes left in the game.
Shortly after that, Reading tallied a 1-0 victory over Wyomissing on a slick goal from Oliver Calvo. This marks the first trip to the county final in 33 years for the Red Knights.
The boys final will be at 7:30, following the girl's game on Thursday.
In the first girls semi-final, Conrad Weiser rolled past defending champion Fleetwood, 3-0, in Shillington. It was the third meeting of the year between the two division rivals.
TaCari Talford, Kennedy Lutz and Hannah Racis all scored second-half goals to pace the Scouts.
In the second semi-final at Exeter, Wilson West Lawn also tallied a convincing victory over a division rival, 3-0, against Governor Mifflin.
Shannon O'Brien, Ivory Bailey and Carly Pandit did the damage for Wilson, which looks to capture the county title after losing to Fleetwood on penalty kicks last year.
The girls game will start at 5:30 on Thursday in Tulpehocken.
